Do Less to Gain More

Does the thought of doing less to gain more sound counterintuitive?

In our fast-paced world, the idea of achieving more by doing less might not sit well with you. You may even feel a little antsy thinking about it. However, I've come to realize that dialing it back in certain areas of our lives, particularly in our overall health and well-being, can actually lead to greater results in the long run.

As women, and especially as moms, it's so common to find ourselves caught up in the constant hustle and bustle. Whether it's work, school, kids activities, errands, or household responsibilities it all adds up and is a never-ending cycle. Unfortunately, it can sometimes come at a cost - burnout, compromised health, an overall sense of imbalance, and even unfulfillment or resentment.

After working with so many women over the years, I've noticed a pattern; prioritizing health and wellness for some can be an added stress in and of itself. It's just one more thing to add to the "to do list." It can even lead to feelings of guilt, comparison, and self-sabotage. So, as a health coach, my job is to recognize these thoughts and behaviors, and as a result, means taking a step "backwards" first. By giving yourself space to think about your current priorities, you can figure out where you need to focus your energy now. Instead of spreading yourself thin in a million places, pick one or two areas to improve in. By doing this, you'll see greater results so. much. faster. You'll be able to see what works and what doesn't. And, most importantly, you'll be giving yourself quick wins along the way to keep your momentum going.

So, can you pick one or two areas that you want to improve? Can you set up some specific action steps and goals around them? It can be literally anything. By creating a solid foundation, you'll be setting yourself up for sustained success too.

Taking care of ourselves is an investment. It has short-term and long-term benefits. Carve out some time this week to figure out where you'd like to focus on and set goals around it. Don't add more to your list, instead, take some things off! Put the energy you were going to spend on those tasks into the ones that will truly move the needle forward. When we do less, but better, we're more equipped to handle challenges, make thoughtful decisions, and stay focused on our goals, too.

Most of my clients say that the foundational exercises and assessments I have them do are life- changing. If you need help figuring out where you should be focusing your attention, the resources I provide you with help you get crystal clear.
