No matter how you look at it, we are all moving forward. As the seconds tick, and the days go by, there is literally no stopping time. However, so many of us waste ours doing tasks that either keep us busy in an effort to either make us feel important, procrastinate the work we are avoiding, or are just plain time wasters.
Do you find yourself spending time wishing you could undo things? That cookie you ate, the thing you said in the heat of the moment, the opportunity you missed, etc?? We have all been there. The reality is we can't change any of it. The more we spend time worrying about the things that are now completely out of our control, the more time we will waste. It's like driving a car but only looking in the rearview mirror. You are still moving forward but it won't take long before you end up completely off course, or in a way worse position than when you started.
Instead, use the power of now. What can you do in the present moment that can move you a little closer to your goal? Take a small step. Then do it again the next day, and the next, and so on. This will not only help you gain momentum, but it will help you gain more confidence, too!
If exercise is something you want to get more consisent with, you have to first stop looking at it as a punishment. Don't think of it as a way to "undo" the extra cookie you had for dessert last night. Instead, change your perspective around it. Think of it as a way to reward your body with strength and good hormones, and use it as a reminder that your goals are possible.
Remember, you have control over where you keep your focus.
As Tony Robbins says, "Where focus goes, energy flows."
In other words, what we focus on grows. Can we do better and learn from our past mistakes - yes, absolutely! Mistakes are like mini gifts. They are lessons if we choose to learn from them. But you need to stop rehashing the past and instead, use that energy to make your next best decision.
If you don't want to go at it alone, a great place to start would be with my upcoming 5 Day "Spring Ahead" Reset.
